Of course, there can’t be one person in control of all the information in the world. Instead, what’s being emphasized in the aforementioned proverb is the importance of communication.

By applying effective communication methods you can articulate your thoughts well. Once you’re better at expressing yourself this way your message gets through. Have you ever met someone who you know wanted to convey something to you but ended up mutually confusing both of you? That’s the lack of communication skills.

Every organization needs effective communication methods to be in place. If there are discrepancies in the information being shared within the organization, it’ll cease to function. It gets even more embarrassing when that’s caused by the lack of good use of communication methodology.

This is something that can be fixed easily, let’s take a deeper look at some of the effective communication methods available to improve communication inside an organization.

Most effective methods of communication in an organization

Strategy and Evaluation Based Meetings

The first and most widely used method is strategy and revaluation meetings. By getting the team working on a certain project together and brainstorming. Go back and forth with ideas, arguments, and counterarguments. There is not only a chance for a better solution but much better coherence and communication among the teams.

Communication by training is a good strategy to encourage better communication among employees. They could be given the required information in the form of training and modules. Effectively making it necessary to receive the information and also more engaging.

Along with the information being conveyed to employees in general, communication on a personal level should be encouraged. One on One interaction is more likely to have an impact and to be taken more seriously. One-on-one interaction also allows for customized and directed information chunks to be conveyed easily.

Once more open strategy and revaluation meetings are done. Training modules are utilized to communicate the necessary information and more one-on-one interactions are created. Intonation and facial expressions should be integrated into speech to get a more lasting impact. Hopefully, helping in the retention of information.

It has been proven on multiple occasions historically that humans are visual learners. We remember well what we see. Include visuals in your communication. Tools such as tabular data, panel data, charts, and graphs along with diagrams can be very useful. Make sure the choice of these objects is relevant to the information being communicated.

Feedback And Opinion

Take feedback and opinions, reviews, and recommendations and actually converse with the employees. No one likes monotonous chunks of information barked at them in a monologue. But if a genuine discourse is initiated and there’s a little back and forth. The information is conveyed in a much more effective and efficient way.

Use gestures, postures, and body language to convey or supplement the conveying of information. Your position, manoeuvring of your arms and hands, pacing around, making eye contact, smiling/keeping a composed countenance- all factor into the communication of information and its effectivity.

So, along with effective communication methods like the visualization of information being conveyed. Starting sound discourse and back and forth with your employees. And using body language to your advantage. There is a fair chance that you could be overwhelmed and turn repetitive. Avoid that redundancy as it takes away from the impact of the information being communicated.

Humour: The Ultimate Tool

Bring some humour into the room while presenting the information. Humour goes a long way in breaking the tension down to manageable levels. Especially in high-stress environments like an organization that is operating on a large scale. If the stress can be curbed a little off the employees’ shoulders- they’re likely to show better reception.

Finally, not all information is carried out in person. Databases that are being used in the organization should be shared databases and written communication should be done well. Emails, letters, messages, texts, etc. should be written in precise and well-articulated thoughts. They should lack redundancy and be professional as can be.

It has rightfully been said time and again- “he who controls the flow of information, controls the world”.
